In 2008, Classic Construction built a three-room addition to our house. Our first contact with the company was a meeting with Ward Hampson. Ward struck me as an honest person dedicated to doing quality construction. Ward and his team drew up plans and estimates for the addition. As Ward took us through a series of meetings, the estimates came into sharp focus as to what was going to be included and not included in the project based on cost. Ward took the time to explain the quality of the construction and had the patience to help us get the estimate right. We elected to have Ward steer our project through King County Planning and Zoning, which he did skillfully and rapidly, saving us a significant amount of time and money.

From start to finish, construction lasted 2 ½ months. Steve Fischer was our head carpenter. Construction proceeded rapidly, moving smoothly from one stage to another. Classic Construction did a good job of explaining inevitable change orders and the associated additional cost. I was impressed with the quality of the subcontractors and how Steve Fischer rode herd on the project.

One of the chores for a homeowner is choosing fixtures and having them available and ready at the proper time during construction. SaDora Hampson helped my wife with choices for cabinets, tiling, etc. This saved time and helped us avoid costly mistakes. After construction was completed, a few minor problems came up. With one call, Classic Construction promptly fixed these problems.

My wife and I are very pleased with our new addition. Classic Construction did quality work and an overall excellent job on the construction. They stayed true to the initial estimate. I would enthusiastically recommend Classic Construction to anyone doing a construction Project.

For years, Gary and I have been contemplating adding on or moving since our family has been growing. One standard bathroom in a less than 1300 sf house for 4 girls wasn’t enough. We also knew we didn’t want a mansion. We tossed around ideas and drawings for two years. Finally, in the Spring of 2006 we decided to stop talking about it and do it.

We didn’t know where to start. We filled out a form online to see where that might lead. We received 3 responses – one being Classic Construction. Ward was the first contractor we interviewed. We were very impressed and felt comfortable with him. We contacted about a dozen other contractors but never got the vibe we got with Ward. His memory skills throughout the entire process just amazed us. Even our kids loved him – which is a shock since they usually shy away from new people.

Ward and SaDora are not your typical contractors. They are very friendly and personable. Everyone at Classic we spoke with had dynamic personalities and enthusiasm. They are all honest and trustworthy. They were very easy contact and talk to. We only wish all companies were ran by people like Ward and SaDora and their crews – like Hank – business would run smooth and superb.

Hank had a great personality that really shined. Always worked hard and had a smile on his face…and a chuckle in his talk. If he was ever upset or frustrated, he never showed it. He and his crew were very dependable. We always felt comfortable with them working in our home. If Gary wouldn’t pester them so much, they would’ve probably finished sooner. Construction guys..jeesh. they always showed up on time, if not earlier. Even during the wild November weather we had, they were still out there braving the elements.

We were thrilled when the project started. Even the first day we noticed how much work and effort Classic puts into their projects. Everything went according to schedule. I think the longest part of the entire renovation, was caused by us. We were scared and nervous after hearing so many construction horror stories when we told people that we were renovating. Our neighbors enjoyed watching the renovation. They couldn’t believe all was done within a matter of weeks – not months. Towards the end, every day I felt like a kid on Christmas. It was very exciting to watch. In the end it turned out just as we had hoped and planned – just beautiful. Ward knew exactly what we wanted and his guys did an outstanding job creating it. Now, we talk about doing even more to spruce up the rest of the house. We will certainly contact Classic if we don’t do it ourselves

Our home is a tri-level. Judy and I have talked for years about a kitchen remodel. In actuality, we desired a mid-level remodel, ie., a kitchen-dining room-living room remodel. Judy met Ward at a home show and his enthusiasm coupled with his sincerity supplemented our procrastination with action, much to our subsequent joy. We invited him to our home, explained what we wanted, he took measurements, and subsequently provided us with a contract we could accept.

The work was started as scheduled, progressed as promiced, and was completed in a timely manner. Since we lived in the house while the work was performed, we were especially happy with the accomplishment of the day to day work as overseen by the lead carpenter Rich Lockhart. We were also extremely happy with the day to day clean-up. We were especially pleased with the fact that Rich was never afraid to offer alternatives when our desires were impractical. His flexibility in ensuring our desires were met, even though we would occasionally change our minds during the remodel, has provided us with a thoroughly outstanding job. Rich is a extremely patient professional, who takes extreme pride in his work as well as that which he oversees.

Both Judy and I enjoyed our entire interaction with the Classic Construction staff: Ward, SaDora, Rich, Rachel and Julienne. It is always a pleasure to call the office, as I’m sure to reach a friendly (and professional) voice, willing to resolve any situation required.

I had a conversion done to a home that was built in 1954. The remodel included having to put all of the ducting and plumbing into the floor joists to meet code. The entire downstairs also needed to be soundproofed. Ward did a great job on keeping my costs where they needed to be, while keeping the look very professional. The time frame was the most important criteria for me being able to open my doors and I was able to open ahead of schedule. I knew that I had the complete attention of the entire crew throughout the remodel and that made me feel great. I would recommend Classic Construction for any remodel job.

Ward was the third contractor, I utilized in a three staged remodel of my home and by far would be my first choice to use again. I found him to always be enthusiastic and pleasant. This note is to let you know that Classic Construction remodeled my home from November 2003 to March 2004. The second story was removed and replaced in this that time period as well as extra space added to the kitchen, a new bathroom installed, a stairway reconstructed and the finish work completed. The living space that was created by Classic Construction is a joy to be in.

Classic Construction did what it took to get the job done. They were on time and were on the job when they said they would be. My past experience with contractors has been one of frustration and sometimes anger. This experience has had a few bumps along the way and the vast majority of the project was very smooth and I was kept aware of what was occurring at all times. There were very few days that someone was not on the job working during the whole time period of the remodel. This was not my previous experience with workers in the contracting business.

All in all I would hire Classic Construction to do my work again if I had it to do over. I will definitely be asking Classic Construction to help me when I begin my next remodeling project.

I just wanted to let you know what we feel great about with the way our project is going so far. We really appreciate that we have the consistency of a few people working on it. So far we have worked mostly with Paul. Paul has been wonderful about communicating what is happening with us and discussing the next steps and when he will be here. We also greatly appreciate the care he has taken in keeping the property safe. For example, he put a long board nailed over the old door so we would not have anyone accidentally go out that door and he also marked a deep hole to avoid anyone falling into it. Most likely, none of these things would ever happen, but we appreciate that he is aware of what could happen and plans for it. It just feels like there is a lot of thought and care put into the job. We wanted to let you know how happy we are with the work your company did on our home. You handled all the items we wanted to have updated, repaired or built, and it was done with skill and efficiency. We are thrilled with the master bath remodel and the roof covering built over our BBQ area. The removal of our hot tub and repairs to the deck were excellent. You did a terrific job of painting the wooden house trim, repairing the gutters and vinyl siding, fixing the asphalt garden edging, building the raspberry support trellis, and providing expert subcontractors for metal handrails, roofing and marble/glass work. We especially appreciated how well you communicated with us and kept us informed about timing of the work. Your lead carpenter on the job (Joe Davis) always arrived on time or called if his schedule changed. He respected our private space and was always pleasant and friendly. His skills are outstanding-able to do everything. We also appreciated that Ward(Owner) and Kiara(Office Manager) came to our house during the project to make sure we were happy!
