Just a week away from one of my favorite holidays. All the yummy food and family around the table enjoying each other’s company. I honestly cannot wait for the delicious food. Yes you can make it anytime but it just doesn’t feel the same as when you have it for the holiday. Every time I go to the store and I see all the Thanksgiving food I almost just want to buy them out but I don’t, one, have the money for that nor do I want to take away from others who also want to enjoy the holiday. With holidays right around the corner most aren’t thinking of remodeling or adding onto their home. Really, most want to enjoy their space without it being torn apart or in the middle of being put back together when family and friends come over so we understand if you don’t want to start now. Of course, if you are wanting to start beginning of next year, starting the process of finding the contractor for the work and any needed plans for permitting should have been started a few months ago as schedules are filling up for a lot of contractors. We are even looking into Spring and Summer of next year for scheduling more jobs as we have a backlog wanting to start beginning of next year. So if you are having thoughts about remodeling or adding on and don’t know where to start give us a call. We are one call away at 425-224-2004. |

Classic Remodeling NW Inc. hired on another great guy to our team. His name is Eric and is very knowledgeable. Him and our other new hire together make a great team. We are very blessed to have them with us. With our year coming to a close we have projects lined up to finish us out this year and starting next year off right. It’s pretty cold out so you may not want to start right now which is totally okay. Make sure you stay warm and cozy in your home this winter as it’s supposed to be a cold one. If you are thinking of doing a whole house remodel or adding square footage onto your home shoot us an email or give us a call. We want to start the process as soon as we can as review times for permitting have extended and with so many people doing remodels the schedule is filling up quickly. So don’t be afraid, we are here to help as much as we can. Just give us a call at 425-224-2004 for your complimentary consultation. We would love to hear about your remodeling ideas. |
There’s nothing like the arrival of brisk fall days to make you reconsider splurging on that wood stove you’ve always wanted to warm your hands over. Or the one you dreamed of curling up next to with a book. Or, let’s face it-the stove you’d love to be napping in front of.
And while plenty of wood-burning stoves are worth the hype, some older models? Not so much.
Wood stove technology has seriously leveled up since the days of “Little House on the Prairie.” Many older styles-notably combustion Franklin models and radiant potbelly stoves-are all but disappearing from the market. More efficient (and way more stylish) stoves are taking their place.
We tracked down wood stove experts to bring you this coy fall guide of the five wood stoves that perfectly marry warmth and design.
Why Would Stoves?
Before we rattle off the list of our favorite selections, you might be wondering what’s so great about these wood-burning appliances.
In addition to casting a magic spell over your entire house and making it deliciously snug, wood stoves can also save you quite a bit of money on gas and electricity bills.
Propane costs have increased by over 60% in the past year, and hearing your home has become more expensive. According to a study conducted by Penn State University, cordwood (aka chopped logs) is by far the cheapest heating option. It’s also the least likely to be prone to drastic price changes.
As a bonus, newer wood stoves offer a roaring fire without the inefficiency and pollution of older models. Now that you know a bit more about what to expect, here is a list of our top picks.
Best Small-Space Stove: Cubic Grizzly Mini Stove
Best Stove Insert: Osburn 2000
Maybe you want to upgrade an existing fireplace. or perhaps you’re putting the finishing touches on a brand-new build. Whatever the case, sometimes a stove insert like the Osburn 2000 Wood Stove Insert ($2,500) is all you need.
Small but mighty, this one throws off a whopping 75,000 BTUs per hour. It’s also one of the most efficient burners on the market, with eight hours in burn time. (Burn time is the time it takes for one load of wood to burn completely.)
Best Radiant Heater: Heritage Hearthstone Stove
Best Antinque-Style Stove: US1269E
Best High Tech Stove: Catalyst
This fully customizable stove comes in 10 colors (Shimmering Rose, anyone?) and keeps consistent temperatures by pairing with smart technology.
